This unconventional trio passionately delves into the diverse folklore traditions of the Balkans, authentically demonstrating how music could serve as the unifying thread of the fragmented multiethnic tapestry.
With virtuosity, curiosity, and improvisational artistry, the musicians blend the beauty and unique melancholy of Balkan folk music with a variety of inspirations, ranging from Baroque to Bartók, from Bebop to Berio.
The ensemble's founder, Anti von Klewitz, grew up in Croatia and has deeply engaged with the music of the Balkans, Hungary, and the Roma. With voice, violin, and tenor violin, she conveys a sense of life filled with joy, intricate longing, rage, and sorrow. Johannes Lauer on trombone makes the bear growl and sigh, plays amazing, lyrically poetic solos, provides an earthy bass, or weaves intricate patterns of Afro- and Latin-American rhythms.
Sander Hoving on contraviola gives this quintessentially Transylvanian instrument an unconventional, rhythmically and harmonically powerful and rich voice.

"I can give you everything but love..."
Most of all, people like to sing about other people. And about love. Regarding the former, we are especially interested in magnificent failures. And regarding the latter, the unusual cases that operate without any logic and without guarantees. Yet it is precisely these that inspire people to the most beautiful songs...
Two voices, a double bass, an XXL viola, and a violin - we sing about whisky bars, gods, and movies. From Kurt Weill to Stevie Wonder, from Alabama to Georgia - nothing is sacred to us, and everything is dear to us. As long as it is strong enough to withstand our aesthetic dismantling and musical transformations and still be recognizable.
Anti v. Klewitz - Violin, Viola, Vocals.
Jens Piezunka - Double bass and Vocals.
Touring from Poland to Pakistan, from Cottbus to China, from Memphis to Melbourne, together or separately, and in other musical family constellations – for where there is music, not everything is lost.
The ensemble Csókolom brings the ancient sound of Transylvania back to life with its pure string sound, as passionate and unconventional as the music of the Roma, from which the band predominantly draws its repertoire. "A grand feast of passionate, charismatic, and imaginative music... a captivating release of world music, deeply rooted in tradition."
Csókolom has gained international recognition, performing concerts in the USA, Europe, and Australia.
